Catherine likes it dirty.
Atlus’ new game – their first attempt in Persona-esque game on next-gen machines was quite a surprise on this year Gamescom. We still don’t know whether it’s a jRPG or adventure game or visual novel , dating sim or mixture of all following, but its electrifying trailer seems to promise much.

Atlus' Catherine shares some similarities to French diva Catherine Deneuve - both blonde, both classy.
Catherine is a story of Vincent (who made his way into P3 as cameo), a sad average guy who meets beautiful yet mysterious hot blonde that many guys would kill for – since then – he is having nightmares in which he turns to a… goat/ram and run for his (real) life through the endless stairs… oh, just another random Japanese story…
Game is produced by Persona regulars, including composer Shōji Meguro, producer Katsuro Hashino and artist Shigenori Soejima. Cut scenes are being made with famous Studio 4C – they made Animatrix and stunning Mind Game, I highly recommend the latter.
Persona series although light hearted at first glance, featured a lot of complex, provocative and sometimes even disturbing themes (which I’m not going to spoil, but Persona 4 shines here) – Catherine seems to be outright suggestive – and actually that’s what the developers wanted. I only hope it won’t get cut when localised in USA and Europe. IF it get’s brought over…
In the end – look at this gorgeous trailer – If I could I will pre-order it right now.
Oh, and if you haven’t played Persona 4 – one of the best games in history - play it.
EA + Suda 51 + Mikami + Yamaoka + Q Entertainment = …
…Gamegasm, to say the least.
Suda 51 may be a bit pretentious with his games, but you can’t deny they are different from others in a positive way – pair him with Shinji Mikami’s genius (1st Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe, RE series or recent Bust…Bayonetta) and it is already any gamer’s dream (they worked on killer7 together actually)… but that’s not everything. Akira Yamaoka well-known for his creepy soundtracks for Silent Hill series (if there was anything good in Homecoming it was his part) is also going to collaborate, along with Q Entertainment that developed… Lumines: Lumines = Tetsuya Mizuguchi = Rez, see where I’m going?
Or maybe not. This all-star collaboration is going to be a survival horror game being published by EA, which means money for the marketing which means great sales which MAY MEAN more franchises from these two – and believe me, Mikami is an invaluable asset when it comes to create new ones. Resident Evil or Devil May Cry are prime examples.
Personally, I can’t wait for the title even though we don’t know anything else than the creators – but – EA is going to show it night before Tokyo Game Show in their keynote.
Anyway, looks like a day one purchase.
This awesomehorrorgamefromsudamikamiandyamaoka will be released on PS3, Xbox360 and PC.
Hello @ jeudelavie!
Hello there,
welcome to my blog.
Its focus is on video games – particularly 128bit – of course, but I will post anything here really, what I’ll find interesting or relevant – I hope you’ll enjoy reading my trash as much as I will enjoy writing it.
So…
That would be it for now…
